A most difficult commission
1 Attachment(s)
Three beautiful sisters, all so different in personality and family resemblences. My goal was create a balanced composition where the actress does not outshine her sisters, especially the shy one, yet I did want their personalities to be apparent. Can you guess the oldest and wisest? The actress? The shy one?? They all have delightful personalities and this portrait was a pleasure to present to their father for his birthday!

Here is each separate woman...They are also each a different size woman, that too had to be considered when the desire is to have them equally flattered!
Thanks for looking. |
Patty, these are all lovely!
You've done an excellent job with a difficult composition, congrats:) |
Patty,
Your portrayal of these three sisters is very sensitive to each one, and each personality comes across well, with no apparent "bias" towards any one type. It's strong because of your combination of skill, insight, and loyalty to your concept. |
Nice work, Patty! Is this charcoal?

Viva La Patty!
Great job.
I'll guess, from left to right: wise, actress & shy. |
Thank you for your comments, I needed this feedback to be sure others might understand what I was attempting here.
Chris and Alexandra your comments are so encouraging and well appreciated!! Julie, the portrait is all graphite and Marvin you are one for three! The woman on your left is the actress. Actually, I am tickled that she does not jump out as the obvious personality comfortable in front of a camera and take that as a compliment. She has such presence in person and on camera that I was afraid she would outshine her sisters, which of course, I did not want to happen. I wanted them to be equally important in their own right. |
Good work, Patty! Alex is right ... there really is no apparent "shining" sister while the others are subdued. They really do work well together. Well done.

Love this Patty! Nice resemblance among the sister and yet they are all unique! Would the actress be anyone we'd know? (she looks sort of familiar. . .)
|
Thank you for your comments! You would not know the actress, she has acted in commercials and independent films and on stage but nothing "famous". It is the woman on your left. I saw her in Helen Keller and she was absolutely amazing. Her mother told me that to be authentic the rehearsed every day with a rag tied around her eyes so she could not see. She was such a convincing Helen Keller. I think she will make it . . . Her name is Christine Fallon, remember it! You can say you heard of her when!!!
