Blog or website?
I am sure this has been asked before, but is it worth having a website if you have a blog? I am dissatisfied with artspan (where I now have me work) as the layout is limited and does not show the images as well as it could - they look much better on my blog). Does anyone just have a blog, or is there a better alternative as a website company that is not very expensive?

How much do you have to pay for your website? I set up my hosting through GoDaddy.com and have been very pleased with their service. They do offer some easy-to-build websites that I have never used since I designed my own; but I imagine you might find something that suits your needs there. This way, it's less than $100/year and you can keep a lot more information at easy access for potential clients than you can keep on a blog. Just my two cents. I have loved having a website--especially since the URL has helped to make my name the first Google hit for a search on my own name.

Websites for Artists is a good company too.

Definetly you can use a blog instead of a website. It depends on your needs. This is an example of a multi-paged blog that includes a portfolio and info: http://www.ninajohansson.se/
I have visited your blog and it seems that you are using it mainly as an online gallery, then I would recommend you to use at least a template that works better as a photo-gallery. Some free examples: (Blogger) http://visionwidget.com/inspiration/...templates.html (Tumblr) http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/top-10-...ate-portfolio/ (Wordpress) http://www.reencoded.com/2009/04/05/...allery-themes/ Purchasing a professional looking template isn |
A web site is usually used as a portfolio of your strongest work. I use my blog to share my techniques, paint process and to interact with clients and fans.
