Two watercolours
2 Attachment(s)
These are two watercolor commissions I have recently finished. They are 11" x 14"" and 11" x 15", respectively. The are watercolour on paper.
My blog has high res. pictures of them: http://horseandpetportraits.blogspot.com/ |
Thomasin,
I had missed this since I haven |
What a surprise - this is such a different style from you than I have seen on the forum until now. So glad to hear you are fulfilling commissions - the horse portraits on your blog are all lovely - especially the white Arabian.

Thank-you Carlos and Heidi. It is a nice break to do watercolour commissions, although I am ready to work more on oils again. Doing the watercolours helps me see the oils in a fresh way (helps me forget old and irritating habits), and it is a good exercise to have to keep the white of the paper rather than relying on adding white at the end of painting in oils - helps to keep me from overworking things.

I'm surprised too, they are so different from the ones I've seen. They are great too!

Thanks Claudemir. I appreciate it.

Thomasin,
Though I'm not surprised that you can pick up another medium and use it with such ease and competence, I do see your same talent for imaginative composition and brilliant fearless color carrying over into these commissioned pieces. Very, very nicely done! |
Hello Alex,
Thank-you for your kind comments. It is nice working with colour in my watercolour works - for me, watercolour is about bringing out the colours and working with complimentary colours, and it really is helping my main work (I am now doing a painting in pink and yellow, which is so unlike my usual neutralish colours). I just did some photography work recently too, and that has made me much more aware of the importance of composition. It is amazing how the different disciplines really help each other. |
