Here is a portrait of a little girl from Alaska named Lillian. I had a lot of fund designing the elements of the painting and hope that you like it.

Story behind the painting's design

That's gorgeous, the design element really adds to the painting without overwhelming the little girl's delicacy. A lovely image of childhood.
How many hours did it take?

Margaret, it took me more hours than I care to admit to finish the painting! LOL

I actually started sometime while I was still working on my last commission of [URL=http://www.enzieshahmiri.com/jeune_mariee.html]Jeune Mari

Enzie, I really like this painting, too - I love the play of pattern and detail and the green/pink color theme is charming and successful. Nice work!

Thank you Linda! I pulled the color scheme from the outfit that Lillian was wearing. The pattern you see in the background happens to be that of a wall paper I had seen at the Miette candy store in San Fransisco.

This portrait goes to a young family of six in Alaska. Because of all the young children in the household, I wanted to pick a theme for the portrait that would put Lillian in an environment that is playful and fun. I played on Lillian's sweetness as she sneaks a candy.

The challenge was to make sure that the wall paper does not compete with the subject and I hope that I succeeded.

Enzie, I really like this! It's charming, unique. I love the patterns and colors and her impish little face.
