New Long Filbert by Trekell

About 8 months ago at least two forum members contacted Trekell about making a filbert size in-between a regular and an egbert. Something that would compete with Silverbrush Extra Long filbert. Trekell has responded.

Three weeks ago Courtney at Trekell sent me a range of their new long filbert line for me to test. I have put them through the wringer.

They are superior to Silverbrush. The brush is tapering better than my Silverbrush Extra Long Filbert in the same size. It is also wearing better, as if the bristles were thicker to begin with. The ferule is slightly wider in the short dimension. This allows more bristles. Perhaps that is why they are wearing better, I can't be sure. Incidentally, none of the brushes have lost hairs, which was my observation about six years ago.

The brush is higher quality and substantially less money than Silverbrush, making it my new favorite brush.

The only downside is that Trekell does not have a size 3, which I find to be very useful.

Trekell also has a new linseed oil soap that equals or surpasses Ugly Dog, but Trekell has already sold out of it and are manufacturing more.

The new filbert line is here: http://www.trekell.com/Long-Filbert_c_82-1.html

The soap page is here: http://www.trekell.com/Brush-Soap_c_81.html
The soap page will go active again once they have inventory.

Hi Chris, and thanks for posting this info on the new long filbert!

I have many Trekell brushes and really like them. I am glad that they continue to work on the hair loss issue. It was annoying, but not debilitating in their brushes of a few years ago - brushes of any stripe are going to lose a few hairs.

Trekell folks, if you are reading this - please include a coupon in your brochures you send out! It doesn't need to be large, but your materials need a "call to action", IMO. The nice brochure does remind people of you, but it does nothing to get them off their butts and order some new brushes. :)
