Hello, all,

I don't visit the forum very often but when I do, what a treasure trove.

Here is a new portrait executed in my portrait class in Washington D.C.

This was done in two 3-hour sessions from life.

Anyone from DC? Holler. I'd like to organize a portrait group and do head studies . . .

Cheers,
Sarah

Really nice Sarah.

Nice brushwork and nice lines/edges without actually drawing in lines (if that makes sense).

Sarah,

Beautiful, beautiful color choices! Excellent observation of sharp and soft edges and transitions! Frontal lighting can be so hard and many people over-model the value changes because they worry about the lack of three-dimensionality. But you have pulled this off extremely well.

many thanks! I've enjoyed using this frontal lighting of late. It seems to make the skin glow.

Turns out I worked on it one more day (3 hrs) to get the likeness in the eyes.

Many thanks for all the comments.

Cheers,
Sarah

p.s. here are photos of our class in case anyone wants to see what Christina looks like :)
