Hi, this one took about 3 hours to complete, I wouldn't mind comments before deciding if it's finished..

Margaret, we are now addicted to these pastels of yours, so intense and strong.
The light is cool and crisp and the juxtaposition of colour temperatures is very interesting,
If anything I would consider strenghtening the structure of his left shoulder and softening his right cheek

Margaret, this is a great study. The figure seems to be edging its way into the picture plane-very exciting.

To me, the neck seems too narrow. This may have something to do with the left (his right) side. The structure of the neck needs to be stated more clearly between the head and the shirt collar. Also, check the shape of the shoulders. They need strength and a definite edge on the lit side.

Thank you all for having a good look at Iain and your insights.

I'm going to consider him over the next few days and see what jumps out for me;
I find I have to frame these pastels quite quickly for their own protection(especially with 3 children on the go!)

I'm actually quite enjoying trying some portraits with one eye very dark and one brightly lit for drama, as with 'Iris'
Thank you for the suggestion about Klimt, I really love his work anyway (It's definitely worth seeing 'in the flesh', his skin tones glow like mother of pearl)

Thank you again
Margaret
