New sale

Well, it looks like I sold this painting to a Swiss collector who saw my work in South Africa over the new year. I have so few sales these days that I thought this was worthy of an announcement. It is oil on board, 42" x 42", painted in 1999. This is the second oil painting these collectors have bought of my work.

Thomasin, a compelling work, I am very happy for you and for the collector who will enjoy the depth of your work over and over
Congratulations
Ilaria

Congratulations, Thomasin! That is great news. And repeat collectors especially good, because it means they really like your work, not just one piece.

Good for you, Thomasin! Feels so good, I

Great news, Thomasin! Congratulations - it's a beautiful piece.

Yup, bad economic news this morning. I wonder: since our clientele is often the more affluent, well-to-do among us, does an economic downturn affect our business that much? - ( I don't know because I'm only now getting my work out there ). I also wonder - do any of the major portrait brokers reveal statistics on year to year revenues?

That's a wonderful painting Thomasin, congratulations! It is certainly worthy in any collection; it would strongly catch my eye too.

Yup, I've never done this before, but I'm glued to the stock market ticker this morning, in amazement. I bet this will have a negative trickle down effect on collecting and commissions, but I hope not.

Thanks very much Ilaria, Alex, Carlos, David and Garth. My recent lack of sales has a lot to do with living outside the country my paintings are represented in. Apparently, of all the things to invest in by young investors art ranks very high, and painting is having quite a comeback, it seems. Still, it is very hard to find the right place at the right time to display your work, and with the tsunami of painters currently trying to get themselves known these days it takes quite a lot of cleverness and persistence to be seen at all.
