I was digging through a box of print records of my work from the past and found this portrait head from the mid 90's.

Bonded Bronze, Life size.

Peace,

wow!!!!

that's alive.

Beautiful, David! It's nice to see some sculpture here.

What is bonded bronze? Does it contain real bronze? Can you tell I know nothing about making sculpture?

David Carroll 12-19-2007 11:54 AM

Thanks Claudemir , Alexandra,

Bonded bronze is just a Franklin Minterly way of saying cold cast bronze in 3 easy payments. It's basically bronze dust suspended in epoxy resin. It is not lost wax foundry bronze.

Dan was a great guy, He did much for many. He died a couple years after the commission.

Peace,

Yes, very nice to see some more sculpture here David. Done anything lately?
The bonded materials can look pretty nice and are a more affordable way to cast when the portrait is not a commission. For a one of a kind, most of the cost is in the modeling and mold making, so I always discourage people from ordering cold cast unless they want several. Have been loving the results lately with cast granite from a company in Tucson (but you can only buy 50 pound bags minimum order!)

David,
Yes, it is always good to see sculpture here....yours, Heidi

Thanks everyone for your comments. I have several pieces I'm working on right now including miniatures and figurative jewelry. I'm currently looking for models here in Sedona but no one I've talked to works with models.

Heidi, that material sounds cool. do they have a www?

I have 100lbs of WED clay I want to use for a portrait and the cast granit sound like an option for production.

Peace, Blessings,
