Misha

From my Mountain Artists' Guild Friday group in Prescott.
Misha, oil 18 x 14. I intended to do a monochromatic study with Gamblin's Chromatic Black, which seems to lean strongly toward violet. Once I saw our model's beautiful coloring, I borrowed some colors from my painting neighbor David Harlan. Misha has a mouth rivaling Scarlett J's:) |
Chris, It's lovely. Fresh and bold. What fun, thanks for sharing.

Chris, how smart you were to switch to color! She really has striking coloring and features. I'm so envious of your oportunity to paint her. You did a fabulous job of capturing her likeness with your usual confident and expressive strokes.

Lovely piece, Chris!

Chris, I love these tip of sketches, the colors subdued but still vibrant in just the right places.

Fresh and Lovely
Great job Chris. I love your brush strokes in your Open Studio renderings. The mouth is great.

Thanks, everyone. This sketch is very high key, because the room was brightly lit with fluorescent; however a model light in a warmer temperature added enough interest to have a good light/shadow pattern.
The studio at the MAG has all the overhead lights on a single circuit, and although I once got everyone to paint in the dark, they didn't really like it. Next time I think I will bring some foam boards and velcro to cover at least the bank of lights over the model. |
Chris, I am sorry I missed this thread. I love the color combos, the light grey/blue goes great with her hair.
