Just finished this one for his parents.

That's very nice too, Margaret. I like the way you have shaped the hair and the super drawing as well as the solidity in the face and neck. There's a real beauty to the line of the left cheek and chin and under right jaw. Lovely!!

Thank you..I had an interesting experience with this one; thought I'd better apply fixative as the picture had to travel.
For the first time in my experience, it reacted poorly with the surface (Sansfix paper) and formed globules.
I had to spend another evening fixing it...here's a photo of the retouch. Just wondered if others have similar problems.

Margaret,
I was immediately attracted to how the blue in the background is reflected in the white of the boy

Thank you, Carlos for your comments.
I know what you mean about regarding the image as a whole.
I was advised to use a touch, even a dot, of a main colour in different sites on the paper , to pull the image together and create a flow.
It seems to work!

Margaret,

He has so much expression! Something subtle but very nice happened to his mouth in the re-touch. I like it even better, which is not always the case in situations like that. Thanks for posting the close-up. What remarkable skin tones! I agree that the blue color in the eyes is a brilliant touch. He seems to be visually absorbing his surroundings and reacting to what he sees (though we cannot see what he is reacting to).

Thank you for your encouragement, much appreciated

I love the engaging expression! The boy's lively hair and the vivid colors move one's eyes around the page and help create a feeling of impending movement. I have several boys of around this age and can attest to the fact that they are in constant motion, so I think this was masterfully done.

Thank you Nancy, he has a very calm nature fortunately, made life a lot easier!
