I had put this one aside for a while but finally just signed my name to it!
All comments are most welcome. Thank you!

It's just lovely, Christy!

Christy Talbott 05-26-2007 08:51 PM

Thank you so much Ilaria! :) I've been told it looks very old fashioned, but it'll suit the home it's going to be hung in-- antiques and painted floors, cottage style.

There's nothing wrong with looking old fashioned, and the work is very much in the tradition of painting of great Americans such as Rockwell or Loomis, so I don't think anyone can mean it as a negative comment.
Your client must be delighted

Thank you. :) I think she is happy with it.

For a long time I'd fought against my natural tendency to want paint in an old style, but i think I'm finally giving up! Now I just want to paint well and in my own way. Still have a lot to learn and a long way to go, because what's in my head usually isn't quite what makes it to the canvas!

Hello Christy,
this is a very nice portrait of a sweet little girl.

Hi Christy, Nicely done!. I do like the old charm feel to your work, yes it too reminds me of a Loomis. Great artists to be likened to, don't you think! Keep up the great work, looking forward to seeing more.
