Hello everyone it's a pleasure to be here and I look forward to sharing both my works and thoughts on art with all that will look and listen. I've learned a great deal from this site already.
Although I've been painting and drawing for a long time I'm just a beginner when it comes to portraits and so I look forward to any and all advice. I've attended peair school of art (back when it was just an art school) and just recently obtained an associate in fine arts degree from one of the local community colleges.

Very interesting work, Dan! I like your distinctive style and your confident "drawing" marks. I'm looking forward to your participation in the Forum.

thank you Alexandra, I probably should have included some info on these attachments, the first is an oil sketch done from life in about 2hrs approx 8x10 the second is graphite on bond paper and was done from a black and white photo in about 2hrs
