Couple small self portraits

Here are a couple of small portraits i did of myself. Both are done from digital photos.

The first one is oil done on canvas. It measures 6" X 12". The pose was captured while I was trying to fiddle with my camera. It was actually probably the most interesting of the bunch so I chose to go with it.

The second one is also in oil but painted on masonite. This was my first attempt at preparing and painting on this surface. I found the surface to be quite a change, almost to the point of not liking the way the paint reacts on it. I soon got used to it. This painting measures 12" X 9".

I don't mean to post so many self portraits, but I assure you my current work in progress is a painting of my parents which i hope to unveil to them for their 50th anniversary. It is proving to be a task since I am painting the actual setting. I will post it once I am finished.

Thanks for viewing.

Brian,

Self-portraits are always interesting. It seems we encourage people to use themselves as a model if no one else is available, but in certain ways we make much better models than people we don't know. I enjoy seeing how you portray the different aspects and moods of yourself, so please don't apologize for posting "so many" self-portraits.

I love the composition of the first. The technique is excellent too. Would like to see it bigger.
