Winter

I like this one more now that I am done with it than I did while I was painting it. I plan to carry the theme on and paint a figure for each season.

Oil on Canvas, 24" x 18"

This is lovely Lacey - I love the iconic feel and I especially think those hands are well done.

Looking forward to seeing what you do for the other seasons. Now, if that is winter...and she has that much skin showing...I imagine by summer she will be nude, yes? :sunnysmil

Lacey, this reminds me of a modern-day Mucha. Not stylistically, of course, but there's a feeling in common somehow. I've always loved Mucha's posters of the seasons. Like Kim, I'm looking forward to seeing the others in the series.

Thanks, Ladies!

Actually, Kim, I am considering having summer be nude or nearly nude... of course depending on what model I land. I have yet to hire a model, so we will see if I do that or get a friend to model. I also think along with dressing the model according to the weather, that I'd also have her turn, so that Spring is sideways but facing the viewer and than Fall would be turning away. I think I'll paint them during their season! Yay!

Alex, while I was drawing and painting this it also reminded me of Mucha. Maybe it is because it is graceful, like the Art Nouveau style, even though it is not stylized. (I lengthened to 8 heads here, thanks Sharon for the proportions discussion!)
