Hi -

Just thought I'd share these, which are commissions. Pastel on Strathmore 300 charcoal paper.

that first one was the oldest. One eye is off because it really was off - I tried to minimize it.

Here's the youngest.

Hi Julie, Grate work! I love working with pastels and so enjoy very much what you have done. Keep up the good work.

Sincerely,
mischa

Hi Julie,

What a great way to use pastels! These are so full of life and motion, you can almost see their heads turning and their expressions changing. I also admire you use of color--so fresh and bright, yet soft and delicate. I can't imagine the parents being anything but thrilled.

Thanks, Mischa and Alexandra -

These aren't "works of Art" but I enjoyed doing them and hope the parents will enjoy them.

Julie,

I just LOVE the way you handled the pastels, so freshly and deftly. The kids sparkle and have a mischievous look about them. I especially love the first boy.

Thanks, Sharon -

Believe me, "mischievous" is correct! They were in constant motion. The original idea was to have them in one portrait, but I ended up telling the mom that it would be better to have three individual ones because posing was out after about five minutes. I took the toys out too soon. Well, live and learn....

I like the first one best too. It was done at a monthly local event called an "artist's rendevous". I went just to get out of the house and draw, not to enter the competition, but there's something about doing art with other artists that somehow gets me "psyched" and more daring (anyone else feel that way?). Maybe it's how actors on stage feel.

Julie,
The first word that came to mind when I saw these was ALIVE.
Very nice.

These little faces just sparkle, what a joy to view. I, too, like the first one best!
