Girl without a pearl earring
1 Attachment(s)
I was playing with some different lighting equipment and got this shot of my daughter, Lexie (perhaps you have seen her face here before. That is because she is my only cooperative child / model.)
Not that I am comparing mine to the work of a master, not so. But it reminded me of "Girl with a pearl earring" so I thought I would share it. |

Did I say cooperative?
Kids..... gotta love em. |
Ha! Fantastic! Tell me you're gonna paint that second one.... please!

Ok, now you've got me going. Paint number 1, 2 or ....3?
Actually, these final two say a lot about Lexie's personality. She is an absolute hoot to be around. But, when asked to be serious, I get lovely photos of her. |

I vote for a triptych.

HA! Now there's an idea, Michele. Makes me laugh just thinking about it.

Janel, I second the triptych. Not traditional, but it will get attention and win some awards, in all likelyhood. Lexie's a great model. Paint her horizontally in the order you've posted. Check out some of Scott Bartner's very sincere portrait series, as an idea.
Seriously, even if you only use #1 as a reference, you are in great shape! I do sense the echo of Vermeer, if that's what you are suggesting. Garth |
The idea of a triptych just cracks me up. I go with Garth. Horizontal with 2 and 3 on the outside but have the eyes face the normal pose in the center. Just a caution. All three photos appear a little overexposed on my monitor.

Triptych
A triptych would be great! But I think it should be 1,2,3 and not 2,1,3.
It seems to me that it would be a funny psychological portrait. |
