Nine inch form drawing from life

(Maybe one day I'll learn how to draw hands from life)

Hello,
I think that is a very nice drawing. Do you use a pencil? I see several time it and I found only a little thing that I think you can correct. I some zones like left arms or pant I see that the sign of drawing is so uniform like a cartoon or like a cutted paper. Do you understand me? Bye, luca. |
This was done in pencil. The uniform lines are intensional.

Jesse,
This is a beautiful, cleanly executed, atmospheric study. The proportions are perfect, form is strong, and nothing is overdone; it's just a little gem! I love how he poetically emerges from the paper, and your economical and precise use of line. How long did this take? You make it seem effortless. I have no critique. Garth |
9 inch figures from life

Thank you Garth,
I love your work and have enjoyed reading your posts. This was drawn in 5 one hour and half sessions at the Carl Bloch Academy taught by Patrick Devonas. I'm including one of Patrick's conte' studies (I hope he doesn't mind). This might give you some idea what I'm shooting for. The drawing at the beginning of the post is the first such drawing that I've attempted. Patrick suggests doing hundreds of nine inch figures drawings from life in a similar manner. I can only imagine how beneficial this will be to me, seeing as I already feel that I have benifited much from this one exercise alone. |
