Self portrait

Here's a self portrait in oil that I recently completed.

The colors on the larger image are fairly accurate, except for the inside of the elbow on our left. For some reason the camera just won't pick up the color in this area, it is like the shadows on the other arm in real life.

Oil on Canvas
30in x 24in

Thanks for looking!

I like this a lot, Lacey. I love the pose and the colors. It was fun and interesting to watch you develop it in WIP. I agree with Richard that this face should be your new avatar. Not that you aren't cute as a button in your current avatar, but this is ART, girl!
How did you come up with this pose? It's wonderful, lots of character comes through with it.

Sorry for not replying to this sooner.

Thanks, Brenda, for the lovely compliments and for following my thread in WIP. Aside from the struggle with the one arm you saw in WIP, I composed this from various shots of myself taken in a mirror. In my little bedroom, I have a vanity at a 45 degree angle in the corner, and when I sit on my bed I can see myself in the little mirror which swivels up and down. So, I grabbed my camera and took various shots of each arm posed with my body leaning forward and tilted the mirror to get seperate shots of my head. I had one basic pose of my body and tried to keep that pose regardless of what hand was holding the camera.

It was a round-about way to get it and I don't know that I'd reccomend it, but it was an experience and I feel good about being able to pull it together.

Maybe I will go ahead and use this as my avatar, or maybe one of the shots I just took for my new updated website. :D
