The first day was my opportunity to have a bit of fun. I got to paint while everyone else sat around. My model Jordan was one of those perfect subjects, easy to paint and still as a statue.

I took this shot outside in the bright Arizona sun. The direct sunlight raking the canvas accentuated the weave and the paint texture, creating a fairly useful technical image for those interested in technique. (You both know who you are.)

We must always remember that we are painting the LIGHT describing a subject, not the subject itself. It is very important to properly light our model and to work in natural light as much as possible.
