Kelly in oil

Hi good people! This is Kelly in oil on gessoed masonite. It is a 16 X 20. This is the first time I have ever used linseed oil at all in a painting and I love what it does to the flow of paint. How did I miss that over the years? The jacket gave me small fits and I am glad to be finished with it. Overall, the color is more subdued than I usually am able to get and I am pleased with that.

One little note: I find that my digital camera picks up underlying color form some reason (which is impossible to correct) so it is looking a tad more blotchy than it does in person. I think the actual painting has smoother transitions of color.

Thank you for taking the time to take a peek.

Lids,
I can see why the jacket gave you fits. I go nuts trying to paint that kind of complex pattern. You did a beautiful job and the painting looks great.

Richard, Kimberly, David, Mary Claudemir, Garth and Terri:

Thank you all for your nice comments.

I suspect many of you could provide me with a very useful critique. I wanted to post it in the critique forum but I felt that was unfair since I probably won't make changes to this one. I didn't want anyone to go to the trouble of critiqueing only to see their great advice not followed. I just don't have the time to do more work on this. I have a load of pastels calling my name. So, I invite any of you to PM me if you see errors I can really learn from. I will listen and hopefully apply what I learn to the next one.

Again, thank you for your encouragement.

Dear Lisa,

Beautiful work, beautiful work. If you would like critique, please go ahead and post in the critique section. Critique is really just for input, and whether or not you have the option to make changes is not relevant. Often, members' comments are just as helpful to your next painting.
