My first unveiling, hope you like it.

I couldn't decide whether it should go in figurative or portrait, I even read the thread on the difference which left me much wiser...Not, I suppose it's a personal opinion like everything else about art :)

Carolyn.

Yes, I do!
Not only the technique, but the composition too. Great Painting.

I absolutely love this!

Start looking for a contest to enter it into! This is a winner in my opinion. I love the way you have cropped it. the negative space is very nice.

Carolyn,

I like very much the way the atmosphere is conveyed with a minimum of elements...and I echo everything else everyone else has said. Fantastic visual impact. Congratulations.

Carolyn,

It turned out beautiful and I agree that you should submit it in some contests. It does look like a winner!

I really am having trouble getting my head through the door now ;)

Claudemir, I'm glad you like the technique, maybe you could explain it to me ;) Then I won't have to sit for hours looking at my next outline not know ing what I did last time and not knowing how to start this time.

When competions were mentioned I did some searching and have found lots within travelling distance that I have just missed :( But there are also quite a few that are judged solely on slides submitted.

Only thing about those is that the number of entries is going to be enormous. But the worst thing that can happen is I've lost a few euros on getting slides made. (We won't mention the sole destroying feeling of being rejected :( )

Best wishes

Carolyn.

Hi Carol,

According to the Webster's, Technique is:

Function: noun
Etymology: French, from technique technical, from Greek technikos
1 : the manner in which technical details are treated (as by a writer) or basic physical movements are used (as by a dancer); also : ability to treat such details or use such movements <good piano technique>
2 a : a body of technical methods (as in a craft or in scientific research) b : a method of accomplishing a desired aim

And the "yourdictionary.com":

[I]The systematic procedure by which a complex or scientific task is accomplished.

also tech
