Disabling flash

I have a tech question; how do you disable flash on a Canon Rebel 2000 camera? I would also like to know how to photograph a subject in Rembrandt lighting?

Hi Judson -

Good to see you back on the forum.

I pulled this excerpt from one of Michael George's shares:

"The basic concept of Rembrandt lighting is one high raking light source at about a 45 degree angle from the object or person you are lighting. You need some sort of reflection device on the other side to bounce a bit of light back into the shadow areas - I use a piece of white mat board."

If you do other searches, you will find more info on this forum.

I have an older Canon, and had the same problem with the flash. I had accidentally turned it on without realizing and was going nuts for a while until I looked up what to do in the manual. You will probably find a quick how-to by looking it up via the manual's index.

Judson,

This is close I think. The light source is window light to our right. Move the model until you get that triangle of light on the shadow side of the face.

I can't help much with the flash problem.
