For those of you who occasionally venture into landscapes in between portrait commissions, or who find yourselves incorporating landscape into portraiture, I cannot recommend too highly a new video from Colorado artist Jay Moore, entitled

Neither Moore nor Christensen are adamant about the palette. Each states that he arrived at the current choices after long experience.

By the way, Jay Moore says he uses that same palette for anything he paints -- landscape, still-life, and figures.
I don't recall whether Christensen said anything about that. |

I haven't posted here in a while, but I wanted to second the opinion on Jay Moore's video being excellent.
I have actually taken a landscape painting workshop from him, and learned more in two days of that workshop than I have in any other art class I've ever taken. He's very analytical about his painting process, and willing to share information about painting and business that most artists keep to themselves. If you like to paint landscapes, taking a workshop from him is definitely worth the $$ - he teaches a great 4 day workshop in Rocky Mountain National Park in June every year through the Loveland Academy of Art: www.lovelandacademy.com |
