50th birthday gift.
4 Attachment(s)
This was done for her husband's 50th birthday, We had a real time crunch so I almost felt like it was a sketch with exception to her face.
I'll show the full canvas which is 20 x 16, oil on linen. Plus, a close - up of the face and hand. The last one is the client with her daughter, I like to show these for an idea of likeness. :) |
Great job Beth. I really like the way everything is played down in relationship to her head. It gives the painting a more relaxed quality. You really caught her spirit. Very well painted. Good for you!

Beautiful job Beth! Beautiful skintones and a lovely gentle atmosphere.
You have really gone the distance. I remember cheering you on when you were bravely essaying a portrait of a young man from life not to long ago. |
Boy, I like this one Elizabeth. It is fun to see it in the last picture, shows the impact it makes on its own, next to the subject and her daughter. Really holds up beautifully.

Beth,
I like this fine balanced composition and the informal way you painted it. It is so fresh and lively. Allan |
Beth,
I like this too. Your hard work really shows! |
So nice!
Beth,
This turned out so wonderfully - I love it. The colors and the way everything flatters her face (as Marvin said) is just very nice. We can tell by the mom and daughter that they are very pleased as well. Great job!! Denise |
Wonderful, Beth. I like the composition on this very much.
Sincerely, |
Beth, This is lovely and real!

Thanks everyone, I haven't had time to give her a call to see how her husband liked it, I did hear through the grapevine it went well.
Did the absence of the right hand bother anyone else? Some people were bothered by it, I liked it, one of these days I'll be a little more mainstream. Thanks again. |
