David:

This painting reminds me of your PSOA award winning self portrait, and is just as awesome. Is it the same size? Also, speaking of composition, in both, the subjects are looking down. Any significance there? Who/what are your influences?

Michele Rushworth 07-28-2004 09:53 AM

Lovely and very intriguing. Can you tell us what the title means?

Jeremiah White 07-28-2004 10:28 AM

I like this a lot. I'm adding a link on my site to yours.

I really like the individual hairs shown in the close up. Very good work.

Thanks everyone,

Lately I've been exploring very simple head studies with interesting compositions, and just more recently have a few full length pieces in the works. This piece represents Past and Present.

My main influences this week are the NYC streets, Antonio Lopez Garcia, and Annagoni. The title means.... I like to think that if a painting is interesting to the viewer, They would be able to figure out the title and what the painting means. I personally love to research paintings and painters to figure out goofy stuff like this. I'm pretty odd.

Garth,

Whats going on? What's on the easel? Did any of those high profile commissions pan out?

The Futures Of Breathing As Yet Unspoken...(?)

My literal translation is undoubtedly not wholly accurate with regard to the piece. But, I "get it" by looking rather than translating. And that's because it's such a wonderful, emotive work.

Congratulations on another stellar piece, David. You raise the bar for all of us.

P.S. Garcia is amazing

I agree with Rob,

Very romantic, and luscious skin - especially in the extreme ( we're cool in the arts) close up.

Great work Dave, keep raising the bar.

Terrific piece Dave!. Beautifully executed and the sensation it gives off is mezmerizing. Congratulations

It's such a pleasure to see this, Dave. In viewing the close-up, I think I could tell how moist her skin would be if I actually touched her face.
