Robert Genn's Twice-Weekly Letter

The artist and writer Robert Genn publishes a free twice-weekly newsletter for artists. He is a thoughtful and eloquent writer and his topics deal with such matters as criticism, motivation and inspiration. (Thank you, Karin Wells for letting me know about this newsletter.)

His most recent letter deals with turning down a commission. I also liked the one I received last week dealing with interruptions (and in fact I think I'll start such a topic here myself).

Thanks!

And please do start a thread on interruptions. My life is one big interruption.

I think you can also read the recent newsletters that are archived on Robert Genn's site. I particularly liked his newsletter on interruptions, which is very a propos for those of us with kids home from school for the summer. You can click on Linda's link, above, and take a look for it.

His point was basically that interruptions can be seen as a good thing (hah!) since they keep us and our art grounded in the real world. He has a point there.

He also talked about how important it was to "manage" interruptions in the best way possible for our lives, since how we handle them affects our creativity, productivity and incomes.
