This is a photo of my daughter, Emily. I'm planning on painting a 24"x20" portrait of her. I have some other pictures of her without a smile, but they didn't look right with her "jazz hands" and I've just got to paint those hot little feet! What do you think about this "smiling baby" portrait. How does the color and composition look to you?
Thanks,
Sandra Jackson

This is the reference w/o the big smile. I didn't crop it yet so I could see what you guys think. I kind of like the asymmetrical composition and I also like that separation of space at the top. It may be distracting or unnecessary, though. That's why I posted, I suppose. Please let me know your thoughts on it.
Thank you,
Sandra Jackson

I tailored her dress, brought the background down, and shortened the canvas. I also moved her slightly to the right. I was trying to balance the composition with the dark space to her right. Do you think it works?
Thanks again,
Sandra Jackson
