Awards

I have never had the nerve to enter a competition, therefore I don't have much knowledge about them. Could someone explain to me what the meanings of the awards are? Certificate of Merit, honorable mention, etc.? Is one more desirable than the next?

I, too, would be interested in knowing their differences.

I'd have the nerve if I wasn't such a little fish (minnow like) in this sea.
