Andrew and Alex are brothers by adoption and both 13. Their parents commissioned separate portraits that will display side by side, and then each can have their painting in 20 years. Size 24 x 30". There's nothing spectacular about the paintings, but I continue to try out new techniques, so every painting is helpful. Thanks for letting me share them with you.

What original dynamic compositions! Does the brother with the dog hang to the left and the brother with the bike hang to the right?

You certainly have "an eye" for this stuff. Yes, it looks better arranged the way you described, so the brothers' bent legs flank the left and right outside.

Linda, these are lovely! I spent some time looking at the composition of each of these and I like them a lot. I think this is one of your major strengths as a painter and that's a big plus, in my view.

Thank you so much for that - I think it can be harder to learn composition than painting technique, especially when in portraiture there can be little chance for preplanning, as a lot is art directed "on the fly".

These are great!

Compositions don't have to be off the wall to be powerful. Often the simplest ones are the most effective and difficult to do. The space inside the paintings is very well designed.

The boy and the dog is a classic!
