Lexie, 2nd attempt
1 Attachment(s)
This is a photo of my daughter that I would like to do in oil. This will be another attempt at painting her only this time I thought I would try posting the process starting with the photo instead of when I think I am finished, only to learn that I painted through certain steps that I didn't know enough not to paint through. I am trying to learn how to identify obstacles I may bump into before it is too late.
One comment I should make about this resource photo is that it appears darker on my monitor than what I see in front of me. The dark values are not as clumped together as what they appear on the screen. Thank you in advance for any comments. Janel Maples |
Janel,
This is just a wonderful resource photo. It will make painitng her all the more fun, not having to struggle with what can't be seen! |
Thanks Chris,
Sigh of relief! I have literally taken thousands of pictures of Lexie over the past several months as I tried to apply everything I have learned about a good resource photo (she is my only cooperative subject.) I really liked this one and studied it a long time before posting it here because I wanted to make the decision, on my own that this was a good one to work from. I feel good about it being a wonderful photo but reading the word from you means more than you can imagine. This stuff may actually be sinking in for me. Thanks, you made my day. Janel |
It is a terrific reference photo and I'm sure you will make an even more terrific painting from it. I look forward to seeing the results.

Michelle,
In your words "terrific" I now have two thumbs up. Your opinion also means a lot. Well, this is has been good enough for me.........I am using it. You can view the progress of "Lexie take 2" in the oil painting critique section. Thank you, Janel |
