Painting pearls

Calling all geniuses

I'm working on a piece, (still life, sorry) that includes a lovely strand of pearls. Not as easy as one might think. I've reviewed a demo by John Hagan and it was extremely helpful in the "seeing", but it is digital and doesn't translate to an oil medium. What I'm looking for are examples of really well-rendered pearls, which I imagine are present in many formal portraits; or whether anyone knows of another demo out there which is done in oil.

See

See Sargent and Vermeer. The thing to do is keep the perimeter soft due to their dull nature.
