This my first offering to this forum, I joined 20 minutes ago. How neat to find such a place.

This work was done on the heels of reading all the old books on JS Sargent I could find and trying to paint purely from life sight size the way he did, which is to say using the same methods. :)

PS

This work is owned by the Bennington Center for the Arts in Bennington, Vermont and is on display there normally.

Hi Tim,

I give you lots of credit for working entirely from life, especially on such a grand scale. It indeed has the air of Sargent. Your palette has a nice warmth to it as well...great work!

Now that was generous!

I'm going to post some old in progess photos of the model and the effort as it was coming together. I usually hear about the neck until I show the model's photo. Thanks very much.

Input please

I should have posted this under critiques maybe, I'm new here and welcome input. I do not want nice remarks but would welcome input on the work. I'm not thin skinned. :sunnysmil Don't be shy...

Dear Tim

I love your work and enthusiasm for your technique. You are my kind of artist. Your values and color look good but try checking your drawing with some of the following.

-the humerous of the left arm looks long compared to her right arm.

-head size to body length check it. I know comic strip heroines tend to have longer bodies for head size which gives more of a heroic presentation, but is this what you were looking for?

-her right foot looks uncomfortable or unstable or unnatural which attracts too much attention.

Those are my main comments, I would have to get very, very picky to catch other recommeded items.
