This is the first time my daughter posed for me without coaxing. Having a father who paints portraits is certainly no big deal for my children:), they are often victims of an artist looking for someone to paint.

She liked this portrait so I thought I would share it with everyone here. This is an unusual approach for me to use such a warm background, my backgrounds are often cool in color. I was experimenting a little, trying different concepts.

I apologize for the slight glare in the upper left hand corner. The size of this oil portrait is 16 X 20 inches.

This is a lovely piece. I am most intrigued by the strong yellow background (Linda Brandon used a similar background here. It is especially interesting in that all the skin tones will appear cooler than the background color, yet still need some temperature delineation.

One of my very favorite paintings is Salome (Regnault).

Thank you Enzie and Chris. Chris I like that painting of Salome, what a powerful, stunning portrait, as I recall this this is the first time that I have ever seen Salome.

Several artists that I admire have also used a golden yellow color in their backgrounds, their portraits inspired me to give it a try. Everyone here is probably familiar with Everet Raymond Kinstlers portrait of Thomas Wolfe. Sargents portrait of Eleanore O'donnel Iselin, and Ronald Sher has used golden yellow backgrounds in several of his portraits. Yellowish, gold colors to me somehow represent life, hope and a positive feeling.
