New Scott Burdick demo
I visit Scott's website often, as his demos are so instructive, and I can't find enough good things to say about his painting style. I visited his site again this morning, and saw that he'd added a new demo.
In this demo, the face started out almost as a general egg shape that was sculpted into a portrait. I haven't read all the text yet, because I wanted to share it with y'all before I run off to work. Give it a look: http://www.scottburdick.com/demoBrittany.htm |
Thanks for posting this link, Jeff. I bookmarked the page for future study.
Talk about a terrific example of inside/out drawing. He finishes the eyes before drawing anything else and later the whole face is completed before he even marks in where the arms will be. Amazing! And a great example, also, of what Bill Whitaker calls "juicy brushwork". I do enjoy Scott Burdick's paintings and demos. |
Thanks for that Jeff. Love that style, it sure helps to go big.

In one of his demos, the one with the girl next to a mirror, he did a small study first. Despite the size, it was just as masterful.
