I paint with a group of artists every Monday morning. I really liked this particular model named Robin. She was very down to earth and quite funny.

The painting is a pastel and 20" x 16". The green background is actually the color of my friend's basement, where we meet. A funky color to live with, but a great background for skin tones.

Hello Vianna:

Very nice work, I particularly enjoy the lighting. You did a nice job modeling the forms on the shadow side of the face. :) How long did this take you?

It may interest you to know that a lot of studios are painted a mid to dark green also. My studio is. The color came from Bill Whitaker who got it from David Leffel - it is the color he used in his studio and at ASL in New York. It looks wonderful against flesh.

Vianna, gorgeous color, once again! I particularly like the lighting you have used.

Are you related to the famous watercolorist Zoltan Szabo, by any chance?

Vianna,

The coloring is beautiful in this and your portrait of Keeton. They are a delight to view. Could you post a close up of Robin's head as well?

Thank you Michael, Michele and Holly for your kind words. I really appreciate the feed back. I painted Robin in one three hour session. We usually keep models for 5 weeks but this one lived too far away. No, I am not related to Zoltan Szabo. My last name is my husbands fault and is a very common Hungarian name. (If you are Hungarian chances are you're named Szabo.) I have attached a detail of Robins face. Because she was done so quickly the pastel is very thin.
