Here's what happened Thursday evening, I wanted to share this one. It is approximately 19" x 15" in oil on board; 2 hr. session.

Here it is.

Hi Brian,

This piece is certainly fresh and vigorous (I'll bet you never get accused of wishy-washy painting). I'm wondering what kind of board you're using as a support - it doesn't seem to absorb any paint at all (gessoed masonite, perhaps)? Thanks for posting this.

Best regards,

Linda

Hello Linda!

This one is painted on an acrylic gessoed rag mat board. It usually does absorb more oil than this but I was using a mixture of stand and damar with a touch of drier and painting fairly quickly. I also sometimes use formica laminate (bought at the local surplus building suplies store) and have come to love this ground for its quickness and oil-tight but slightly textured surface. It does create a highly sensitive painted surface, but seems much more resilient after a layer of varnish.

Thanks for your interest and good to hear from you,
Brian
