SOG newsletter

I recently released a newsletter for Stroke of Genius. When I say Stroke of Genius, that includes the whole site, including the Forum. If you'd like to read it, it's available in two formats:

Word for Windows format:
http://www.portraitartist.com/newsle...003january.doc

Michele Rushworth who has Word '97 reports she was unable to read it. This is likely because her version is so old.

Adobe PDF format:

The disadvantage of this format is that the links are not clickable.

 Cynthia, just pulled up the newsletter and thought it was great. Got it on the Windows link as I have Windows 98.

Happy to know that you will be doing a site for the 9-11 portraits. I am honored to say that I am one of the 10 completed and unveiled.

Thanks for all your hard work and knowledge.

Dear Cynthia,

What a wonderful idea to offer insights on what other artist are doing through an SOG newsletter. I was also pleasantly surprised to see the inclusion of Socal-Asopa. You are the 1st organization to "officially" give us coverage and spread our mission statement. I sincerely thank you for your commitment to our cause.

You're welcome, Enzie.

Cynthia, I couldn't open it either and my Mac translator program can open everything else, PC or Mac-based, that anyone sends me. I wonder whether there's another format that would be more universal but still offer the links option. Acrobat's great but you miss all the cross-references. And the newsletter looks like a real gem, so it's a shame not to be able to access all the features.

Leslie,

I'm really not sure what other program to create it in. Word is a pretty universal program. Do you have Word on your computer? My version is Word 2000.

Leslie Ficcaglia 02-13-2003 10:10 PM

Nope, I don't have Word. I use Appleworks. But I can translate Works and most other applications. Maybe I need to update my translation program. Or perhaps you could save it in a Word version prior to 2000 and see if that worked. My translation program is also from 2000, and just to be sure I usually save files for cross-platform use in a 1998 or thereabouts version so I'm sure everyone will be more likely to be able to access it.

Leslie,

I tried outputting it in Works format and it completely messed up the formatting. It was a bit of work, but here it is in html format:

Cynthia, thanks so much for making that effort. Sorry it didn't translate readily into Works or an earlier version of Word, but it's lovely to be able to read the entire newsletter and to click on links and see all the relevant articles and so forth. Thanks again.
