Very accomplished, Doug, but no surprise, given the extraordinary level of work displayed on your website. It appears from the note there that you are just recently turning your considerable talents to portraiture. I for one am looking forward to seeing samples as available.

Thank you for posting this awesome portrait - the depth is amazing. The hand could be a portrait in itself (well, that sounds corny but that is how I'm affected by it). The midtones and shadows gently push us into the depth.

Since I am always the student learning and studying - I really appreciate hearing from artists of your caliber. Please share some of your tips and secrets with us and I will be clicking anytime I see your name on this list.

PS - your site was also very inspiring..

I'll try to attach a hand detail here. It was tricky because it is a self-portrait and the hand was painted from memory (since I'm right-handed).
