Changing a brick background?

I'm working on a portrait of an African American child with medium skin tone. The photo I'm using is of her stepping out from behind a white column with a brick wall behind her. Also, the brick is a warm red and she is wearing is a cool multicolored dress. (Sorry I can't post the photo. My scanner computer is still recovering from a nasty virus.) Suggestions for the brick wall? I don't care for it, but it explains the column.

I looked through my reference material and came across this very loosely done brick wall. Maybe if you changed the color it would work for you. Good luck. I can't wait to see how you resolve this!

Thank you Enzie! I like the loose structure of your brick wall.

Does anyone else have a suggestion?
