Unintentional portraits
Greetings,
I paint images of costumed women which are partly based on observation. There is much invention in my work, yet all the people who buy my paintings quickly develop a personal rapport with the women in the paintings. Everyone thinks of them as portraits. I have done very few "intentional" portraits, but I would like to specialize in painting portraits of costumed women. I especially like the idea of the sitter posing with her pet (in the formal style of Renaissance portraits). I have done some paintings in this vein. Would anyone know if there are other artists who paint this type of portrait? |
Costume Designs
Hi Loretta,
I don't know of anybody else who does what you do, but I would love to see a sample of your work. I too love to put people into different costumes from a bygone era and mainly use old masters paintings or costume reference book. Even movies can be a good source for an inspirational costume design. http://members.cox.net/artenzie/image/petitesomme.jpg |
Website
My website is: http://www.ladyrenaissance.com.
Your painting looks interesting. I'm having a bit of trouble reaching your website. I'll try again later. |
Loretta, for Moonfruit you need Flash and a fast connection via computer. This might explain why you couldn't get in. Try my other site: http://members.cox.net/artenzie. I visited your site - very nice work!
