New book
 

I just finished my new book called "You Can Draw!" It is a 180 page book on pencil and charcoal drawing featuring "Line First" method of drawing. It will contain a CD with ten video demonstrations in pencil. I will hope to have copies available in a few weeks. I am publishing it through a local printer who has allowed me to print a small first run to present to retail buyers. I am going to several large stores first.

Congratulations, Lon, I hope the publication is very successful. Is the CD friendly to those of us who insist on the best -- Mac computers?

Actually, the CD is created in Powerpoint, which has a Mac version available for free download. The MPEG files are the same for Mac, but I have not really tested it on a Mac. After the first 200 copies which I will probably have to burn myself, I am switching to Sony for replication. They will tweak it more for Mac compatibility.

That is great. I hope it sells well. You might also try marketing it online. As for the CD, I have some experience in making Demo CDs. I worked for a software company for 6 years making multi-media, Mac/PC hybrid CDs. If you would like any help just contact me. I would be happy to offer any help.

I don't do that type of work for income anymore, so I would not charge anything for advice. And if you needed more then that I am sure we could agree on a deal that would work out for you and I both. I am not looking to make a sale here just to offer my experience to help out a fellow SOG Forum member.

Very kind, Michael! I have already done the CD, but I am concerned that Mac users will have trouble with it. One buyer, a Mac user, said that they had no audio. They were just trying to run the MPEG without using the PowerPoint program. Are MPEG and wav files the same for Mac and PC? Or do you have to fiddle with them? My understanding is, once the AVI and wav files are rendered, and burned on a CD, the files are merged into the MPEG, and the wav files are no longer needed seperately. I figure that anyone with a Mac could download the Mac version of PowerPoint, and play the thing. Is that too easy?
