I like the portrait, really nice composition. One comment: My feeling is that her reflection is a bit too light, it should be darker than that what is being reflected.

Ms. Rampling
Mr. Palliser,
What a wonderful portrait of such a great actress! The color is very nice and mysterious and reminds me of her in so many of her roles. I am curious - did she sit for you? Hope you don't mind my asking. |
Peter, I'm not sure why the reflection should be darker with such a direct source of light. That's what it "looked like" anyway :)
Denise, she did pose for me and has since. A great lady. |
Would love to see the source photo then. Anyway, a reflection is always a bit less bright than the object that's being reflected, as I see it. But you're the painter, you're free to do what you want.

Great Model!
I thought the shadow was light also.
Wonderful! She must love it. No wonder she's come back to you! |
I agree with you that reflections are often darker, but I don't agree its a rule of thumb, so to speak.
Example: It is possible for a reflective surface to be affected by another light source that can make it - hmmm, how do I say - cloudy, or lighter. Just my humble opinion. Mark |
