Multiples are always somehow much more difficult than a group of singles - having a client who trusted me to carry out the vision made it so worthwhile.
While I will never paint like JSS, my client's favorite all-time painting fave is Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose. So I painted the lower section of the Sargent into the frame behind the sofa - its is always fun to include little oddities like this into a portrait where the client and I know what it is but most people wouldn't. Photo at bottom is with the painting at Montgomery Frames in Tempe, AZ. |
Very clever about putting part of the JSS painting in!
In one of Robert Schoeller's paintings, he showed a girl seated in a debutante gown, and at the bottom, she had a shoe kicked off, giving a bit of an edge: http://schoellerfineart.com/gallery/...woman-014.html |
