International Artist Portrait and Figure Finalist

I just picked up my new copy of International Artist Magazine and saw that our own Marina Dieul has been selected as a finalist in the portrait and figure category for her drawing of La Nonette! Congratulations, Marina! It deserves that and more!

Congratulations Marina. My favorite drawing won. Since I have been ridiculed recently for using children as models, I am doubly happy that this won. It's a wonderful subject ,excellently done.

Michele Rushworth 11-26-2007 10:33 PM

Congratulations, Marina! I've always loved that piece.

Linda,
thanks so much! ( when a woman cooks, it's normal it's her duty to feed her family, when a man cooks, it's a chef . I think it's the same with painting : when a woman paints some children, it's her hobby, when a man does the same, he's Rembrandt. We have to change that !)

Carlos, Cynthia, Michele,
thanks a lot!

Marina, because you are the best kind of "warrior" for this cause: one who makes her point with her work, one who is totally focused and uncompromised in her pursuit of her vision. You are changing things.

Alex,
I'm not sure there's a "war" to win, but there are certainely some preconceived ideas ( and we are probably all guilty to have some, on a lot of different subjects ) we have to dismantle.
Thank you for thinking that I'm able to change a bit things. I believe that in some case, facts have more power than words .
So Ladies, give your best at your easels !

Yes, I didn't mean that there was actually a war! Thanks for clarifying--I agree.

Tom and Pat,
thank you for your kind words,
sorry for the delay answering you, I really find more and more difficult to find time just to read this Forum, and even more difficult to find the time to write !
