Hello to all.
I think you all know the model by now. A little bit "unorthodox" for me concept-wise, but I gave it a try anyway. Oil on linen, 195cm x 114cm. Thanks for looking. |
Powerful composition Carlos. What an inspiration your work is. Well Done!

Carlos, this is wonderful! Gave me quite a shock when I realised the reflection was different (I'm a bit slow on the uptake ;) ).
The composition and your brushwork are both so lively. I wish I had painted this. |
I'm slow on the uptake too - nice visual surprise!
Your work is beautiful. |
I love your work and you know that!
Congrats and thanks for sharing. |
Very nice, Carlos. The face and the still-life arrangement on the dresser top are especially lovely. The witty and thoughtful concept has great impact. Thank-you for sharing this.

Thank you all for having a look and for your comments.
Cindy and Julie--the reflection thing is a lot more evident when viewed in person. Thanks for the kind words. Ngaire--I had to really think out the composition in this one. I |
Carlos, this excellent work. I like the sense of balance with in the painting and the figures the red the figures and the props within the setting. Bravo, my friend

Carlos!
I like how you are getting bolder with the juxapposition of the tradtional and modern worlds. Very, very interesting! As soon as I realized her reflection was dressed differently than her "real" figure, I satrted wonderng whether the reflection was really the "real' girl and we are, so to speak, in the looking-glass world. Because, really, a painting is an illusion and we are getting a glimpse into her world to begin with. I like how the red flowers are placed between the two figures, how they separate them and draw attention to them and to the space between them. |
Thanks Marina for your encouragement--I

I really like your painting. The figure of the girl in the dress has a great rhythm that you can feel from the tip of her head all the way down to her foot. And I like how the movement is continued from the raised foot to the fall of the draped fabric on the chair and across the carpet and then back up to the reflection in the mirror. Nice colors too.

Great concept, masterful execution.
