I thought I should post this since some of you were nice enough to make comments earlier - I really appreciated them!

This is Kelly with her three Japanese Chin dogs. This one was about color!

My usual disclaimer, I hope the images are OK, please let me know if I need to upload new ones!

What a beautiful painting Beth.
Congrats.

Beth,
it's a wonderful portrait. I enjoy the composition and the subtle colors, and overall the happiness of her face. It makes me simply smiling...

Grate job beth I'm sure the client will be quite pleased.

Sincerely yours,
mischa

Beth,

This turned out great! I love what you did with the color--as always. You really caught a sparkle in Kelly's expression that, along with the dogs clustering around her, gives the feeling of life. There's so much humor and joy in this portrait, and a serenity that crept in towards the end when you brought everything together by unifying the color scheme.

Thanks so much guys, it was a challenging composition but certainly a fun one! You should see her make clothes for these little guys! ;)

Truly lovely work, Elizabeth, but oh my, those sun-glasses are bound to haunt future generations! ;)

Best regards,
Dave

Everthing about this painting is fresh and alive, Beth, big congratulations to you! I like this composition very much. I think my favorite touch is the askew sunglasses, which make sense if you are holding three dogs.

Terri Ficenec 06-05-2006 09:00 PM

Fresh and lively Beth!
I especially like the genuine warmth you captured in her expression. Real charm!

If this was about color, you succeeded beautifully. The color transitions are wonderful. You also have some great strong brush strokes as well.I particularly like the wonderful glow the facial skin has. The highlights are perfect. Your client must be over the moon with this painting.

Thank you all very much for your kind words.

David I am afraid those glasses were a lot of my doing... I just really felt the need to balance the cooler white and black of the dogs a little up north. I did know it would still be in keeping with her character. Picture a convertible Cadillac with these little fellas! ;)

Beth, I just can't believe how far you've progressed in the past few years. This is terrific!

WOW Beth! I absolutely love this painting. It is so beautifully painted, so full of life, and the way you handled the colors in the face. This is my favorite of yours so far. Way to go girl.

What Michele - me progressed? You are my hero! :)

Oh and Alicia, I have never been able to stop worrying about you since Korina, I am so happy to hear from you! But maybe I should just think you are hanging out at the Spear's place! ;)

Thanks!
