Anyone hear from the PSoA yet?

I am just curious.

Fantastic! We all knew it was great....

Good luck, and see you there--TE

Garth Herrick 04-04-2006 09:53 AM

I was on the phone with Alex when it happened!

Dear Alex,

Huge congratulations; if you weren't already the most deserving darling of this Forum, you certainly reign now!

Yes, I was on the phone with Alex when she said excues me but there is another call coming in. I waited a couple of minutes, and when she returned, her voice was two octaves higher and it would be an understatement to say that she was excited. Alex is at the very top!

As far as I know, big congratulations also go to Tony Pro for an Exceptional Merit Award. Go Tony!!!!!!! !!!!!!!! Also to Linda Brandon, and Myself for a Certificate of Excellence, each. The associated paintings being honored are Tony's portrait of the Artist, John Smith, Linda's Is It Dawn or Dusk?, and my Apotheoun.

Who else?????

Big kudos to Alex, Tony and Linda!!!

Garth

Allan Rahbek 04-04-2006 10:07 AM

Here are the four winning paintings.

If anyone is upset, I'll take the images down, but I thought it would be great to group these together.

Garth

1. The Plasterers, by Alex Tyng (top 12 finalist)

2. The artist, John Smith, by Tony Pro (of 5 exceptional merits)

3. Is it Dawn or Dusk?, by Linda Brandon (of 15 certificates of excellence)

4. Apotheoun, by Garth Herrick (ditto)

Linda Brandon 04-04-2006 10:28 AM

Oh Alex, I am incredibly happy for you! !!!! You really deserve this recognition. I've seen this painting in person and it is very impressive. You are a grand, passionate painter, Hurray and hugs to you!! So proud to know you!!

Tony, I am delighted for you! What a wonderful painting that is.

Garth, I've always loved this painting and I'm so happy to see your name in this thread. Congratulations! I wonder if we are in the subcategory of "Portraits of People Lying Around".

Garth Herrick 04-04-2006 10:31 AM

And Tony's friend!

I have not seen the listing of winners yet, but Tony Pro's friend, the renowned Jeremy Lipking is also among the Top 12 Finalists. No surprise!

Congratulations Garth, Tony, Linda and Alex!

I have to say - I am SO impressed at the figurative nature of these and that they won awards (or are in the finals) - this is wonderful as far as I am concerned! I had always assumed they kept to very very traditional portraiture. I love that it seems to be opening up a bit.

Im looking forward to seeing these pieces in person. Actually, I've seen Linda's and it is very deserving.

Tom Edgerton 04-04-2006 10:47 AM

Simply fabulous!

They are all wonderful paintings...T

Enzie Shahmiri 04-04-2006 10:50 AM

Alexandra Tyng 04-04-2006 12:19 PM

YAY to everyone else :exclamati Congratulations to Garth, Linda, & Tony!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you all for your support all along. I mean it!

Linda, talk about being overly modest! Who was it who lectured me yesterday on how I shouldn't keep this from my friends on the forum, when all I wanted to do was tell my family first? Hmmmmm?

Tony Pro 04-04-2006 12:21 PM

Thanks for all the kudos guys!

I am a bit relieved the painting wasn't chosen in the top 12 as I just sent this painting to London for judging in the BP award, hopefully it will stay there as part of the show...

Hopefully see you guys in Dallas!
Tony

Garth

Give my regards to Jeremy when you see him. I have enjoyed his art for some time now and wish that he would join the party.
Anyway, he is a fine painter and deserves to be recognized.

Steven Sweeney 04-04-2006 04:19 PM

Geez, you guys were all painting all this time? I thought everybody was just hanging out on the Internet forums.

Well, this explains a lot -- and with great results. Congratulations. I figure you're going to work out how to have a big SOG party somehow, somewhere in Dallas -- before, during or after the barbecue. (Stay away from Southfork, though -- somebody always winds up fighting and tossed in the pool with a perfectly good plate of beef.) (Actually . . . that might be fun, too.)

And I can say I knew you when you were just Forum bloggers.

Sharon Knettell 04-04-2006 08:44 PM

Congratulations all!

I knew you was contendahs!

I have admired all these painting individually and thought they were all beauties recognized or not.

Have fun and success in Dallas!

David Draime 04-04-2006 09:02 PM

Big Congrats to all. Look forward to seeing you all in Dallas. And especially looking forward to seeing Alex's wonderful painting up close and in person!

I think it's only fair to post Jeremy's painting here as well.

The photo does not do this painting justice... it's a beautiful piece in person. I saw this paintings progression as he painted it...

40x30 on linen...

This one will be hard to beat...

Look how those quiet colors sing out so clearly! Nice lush invented luminosities and textures. Tony, send Jeremy my congratulations, and invite him over here.

Garth

Garth Herrick 04-06-2006 03:26 PM

Also John Ennis, and Marvin Mattelson, both top 12!

Big congratulations also need to be extended to Forum members/ contributors, John Ennis, and Marvin Mattelson, both making the Top 12 of the competition. Both will be exhibiting therefore, in Dallas.

I have seen John's portrait at his website. It's a good one. I think he should post it here. I have yet to learn which work of Marvin's has been selected.

Kudos twice,

Garth

Elizabeth Schott 04-11-2006 09:27 AM

Mary Sparrow 04-14-2006 07:56 AM

CONGRATULATIONS to you all!

Ngaire Winwood 04-14-2006 08:19 AM

Such an impressive list of achievers. Well Done to all.

Someone please document the event and take plenty of photos and place back here on the forum for us not close enough to go in person.

Maybe a compiled thread with the paintings selected first with photos from the event following when they come in could be the go including all certificate holders as well.

May you all dwell in the golden glow of accolade radiance.

Molly Sherrick Phifer 04-26-2006 10:36 AM

Congrats to all on these achievements! Garth, I trust you will have the appropriate technology with you to post results to the forum as soon as possible after the awards are known? ;)
