Linda Brandon article

Congratulations to Linda Brandon, who is featured in "In the Frame," a regular column in the Portrait Society of America newsletter! I received an e-newsletter today that mentioned highlights of the actual paper copy of the newsletter, which should arrive sometime later this week.

Can't wait to read it, Linda!

Chris Saper 11-28-2005 06:38 PM

I received my copy yesterday, and it's just exciting, Linda! A great 2- page spread with 4 beautifully reproduced sepia images ( I hadn't seen "Dennis" before) - a testimony to Linda's skill in controlling value-

Well deserved!

Kimberly Dow 11-28-2005 11:31 PM

Linda - congratulations!

Any chance anyone would scan it in for those of us who do not receive the newsletter?

Garth Herrick 11-30-2005 12:28 AM

Dear Linda,

Congratulations! I can't wait to read your article (alas, mine has not arrived yet)!

Garth

You rock my world! clapclapclapclap... ;)

Sharon Knettell 11-30-2005 11:24 AM

Great news Linda!

I don't have a copy, so, as has been mentioned before, can we see a scan?

Linda Brandon 11-30-2005 11:58 AM

You are all being extremely kind and I really appreciate your support. I can't get my scanner to work anymore but if anybody is really interested in seeing this, please email me with a snail-mail address and I'll send a photocopy. Basically, it's my life story and then I ramble on and on about art for a while.

Jimmie Arroyo 11-30-2005 02:08 PM

Hey Linda,

How do you feel about typing? :o I ask because I think this is the type of thing to have on your website. Under the bio page or under a 'published' area, and it can include the artwork in the article. I've seen it done on other sites, I think it's pretty cool. Either way, congratulations. If you decide not to include it in your site, I'm pm'ing my work address to you.

Alexandra Tyng 11-30-2005 05:02 PM

scanning

I'm happy to scan it when I get my copy! Boy, I didn't think we would have to wait this long to read your life story, Linda! I think I'm not the only one waiting. I spoke to another artist in my area who has not yet received her copy.

Mary Sparrow 12-01-2005 08:43 AM

I don't have a copy either! But can't wait to read it. Someone please do scan it in, many more people can learn about you Linda than if we bother you to snail mail a few. ;)

Cynthia put it up on my website for me, thanks Cynthia! You can click on it on my news site here.

Way to Go, Linda!

What a wonderful article! Congratulations.

Garth Herrick 12-03-2005 11:57 AM

Dear Linda,

What a great article! It's a must read. I am proud of you, thanks for that link.

Finally!

Today I finally went back on the Forum after a trip to Boston, and I saw the link and read the article. It's excellent, Linda! I agree with everything you said, and I think you expressed yourself articulately. And PSA did such a nice spread with four images! My only complaint is that it is not in color--but on the other hand I agree with Chris that the sepia shows up your control of values, and the portraits read incredibly well. Congratulations!

Alex

You are all being extremely kind, and thank you all for not teasing me about copying the Polish Rider. :)

Allan, technically the hat in that painting is not a Stetson, it is just a plain old flat-brimmed lady's straw hat. A true Stetson is quite distinctive, made in Texas and has a big dent down the middle. I can no longer wear a hat myself because my head has gotten too big for one.

Wonderful article, Linda. Wow. You must be so proud. If the art world is truly on the cusp of a change in the way it views realist art, you are one of the architects of that change. Way to go. Janet

Great article, Linda! Super images and you really did express yourself so well in the quotes. Can you tell us how the article come about?

Heidi Maiers 12-04-2005 07:44 PM

Excellent Linda! What great exposure for you. A well written article, but it is a shame the photos could't be in color. Even in monochrome, they are still lovely. Oh, and I have seen your head - it is tiny as is the rest of you!

Janet Kimantas 12-05-2005 08:10 PM

What I love most about this article is how intelligent and articulate you come across as. No chance of giving short-shrift to the dedication and skills that you bring to your career. Sorry, I left this out first time around. Janet
