need a technical help
I try to add a little photo of myself, under my name, but it does not work. In the 'edit photo' page of the 'your controls' page the feature ' do not use a photo' is 'on' and I can change that. Is there someone who can help me in forum space? Thanks!

Hi Jan,
I'll let you know what appears on my screen when I want to add or change the photo that appears beside my posts, and hopefully what appears on your computer will be the same. At the top of the page I see an option for "Your Controls". When I click on that one of the choices is "Settings and Options". Then I choose "Edit Photo". From there I choose "Browse" and go to wherever on my computer the photo is saved. (It has to be the right size and file type, of course.) Then I click on "Save Changes". Let me know if that works for you. |
Hi Michele,
Thanks for your reaction. Unfortunately I don't have the opportunity to choose 'browse', after choosing 'edit photo'. I send you a Word 2000 file with a screen print of my monitor. Maybe you can help me further. Jan |

Correct me if I am wrong, Michele, but I don't see a browse option either in that view. Is something missing, or am I just confused.
Is this the same interface you see Jan? Garth |
Yes Garth, this is what I see, but without the photo and a dot in the 'do not use..' feature, witch I can't change in any way so far.

There are two reasons I can think of why I might see something different from what you see, Jan and Garth.
I'm using a PC and I know, Garth, you're on a Mac. Also, I'm a forum moderator and have different Forum settings in certain cases, though I don't think that would mean I can change my photo and you guys can't change yours. I've sent an email to Cynthia to see what she thinks is happening. |
I doubt it is a PC versus Mac incompatability, Michele; at least I hope not. I took those screen images from the page being opened in IE. Apparently Jan is also using IE as the browser. Wouldn't this look the same for anyone using IE?
As I recall there must have formerly been a browse button as you describe, in order for me to put up that avatar picture. Garth |

Hi! I am on a PC and not on the board, etc, and in Mozilla Firefox this is what I see:
|
Just an FYI, mine looks exactly as Michelle describes. There is a block below the one your screen shows, Garth, and there is an option to browse for a photo.
I use a PC and am not a moderator. So, who knows? Good luck, Jan, I feel confident that Cynthia can make everything right. :D Just noticed I cross posted with Lacey. Mine is just like hers. |
Obviously something is missing here.

I just checked the status of my avatar edit page in Safari, a MacIntosh browser, and still the block for adding a photo is missing.

I don't know. Jan, are you on a Mac? I see what Lacey sees. Mine looks the same in both Netscape and IE.

Hi Cynthia,
Jan sent me a screen image of his computer, and he most definitely is using Windows on a PC. He and I are having the same problem though, and I am on a Mac. First to verify that Jan is on a PC format, here is a screen print of his computer. Next is the same edit page for me on my Mac (Mac's are less square, I like that). Garth |
I think I found the problem. Jan, try it now please.
|
Yup, you fixed it!

It suddenly works for me (and should for Jan). Garth As viewed on Safari: |
Hi guy's!
Like you can see, my tiny head is there. Did it in Mozilla Firefox. The block for adding a photo was there now. H |
I'm now in IE and the problem is solved here also. Thanks all for the assistance!
